To My Lover

a
Your sweet weight
is pinning me down
on velvet cushions.
My body ―
numb
& deaf
feels your every
muscle
twitching ―
the same current
builds up
in my skin
at first,
then
deeper.
My breath
rides on
your breath ―
ever faithful,
shadowing,
anticipating.
You seem
indolent,
detached ―
eyes closed ―
but you prey
on my
every heartbeat ―
if only I could
skip one for you!
I long
to dive
in your pupils,
yet you
postpone &
tease,
making my brain
tingle.
Then you open
your eyes,
I find myself
dumbstruck
illiterate ―
I cannot
read you.
Scorn
Defiance
Possession
or Defeat?
I mirror you
as you reflect me.
